The Sega 32X was released as an upgrade to the Genesis back in 1994. The objective was to extend the life of the Genesis, and to offer gamers a cheaper alternative to the Saturn. The peripheral never caught on. Lacking any major 'must have' games, the peripheral failed miserably. It was also released outside the US as the Mega 32X, and in Japan as the Super 32X. Only 36 titles were released for it in cartridge or CD format.
